WELCOME
Hi, my name is Jo Storey and I am an artist and illustrator, specializing in children's book illustrations and nature based art.
I live and work in the village of Lytchett Matravers in the Isle of Purbeck.
I grew up in Farnham, studying pottery and fine art at West Surrey College of Art and Design. I then trained to be a teacher at King Alfreds College, Winchester, where I gained a B.Ed Honours art degree. I have taught at schools in Hampshire and Dorset, several environmental centres, and more recently I have been employed as an artist in residence at an early years setting in Bournemouth.

In recent years I have written and illustrated several children's books, and have been commissioned to illustrate books for two local authors, one of which was published last spring.
I married and moved to Dorset in 1993, soon falling in love with the Dorset countryside and in particular the Dorset coastline. You will often find me pursuing my passion for landscape and wildlife, walking the Purbeck beaches collecting pebbles and shells and creating sculptures, watching spiders (whom I adore!), crabbing with my sons, and recording what I see and feel about a landscape or natural form through sketch and photography. |
